When we say flight attendants are our "heroes of the sky" we really mean it.
September 27, 2016, it was just any normal flying day aboard Cebu Pacific flight 964 flying from Davao City to Manila for cabin crew supervisor and lead Ralph Perez with his cabin crew team consisting of CCS Jeng Zarate, flight attendants Kat Chetandas, Lisha Laconico, Sam Beltran, and flight steward RK Galang. Never did they realize that that day would change their lives forever.
Aboard the Cebu Pacific Airbus A330 on zone C was a 69 year old Italian man who had undergone some medical procedures in the past.
As usual, all cabin crew members were undergoing their daily routine. Greeting passengers as they board, assisting passengers in their seats, checking passengers, ensuring that all seat belts were fastened, stow tables up, window shades up, chairs on upright positions, etc etc.
Five minutes to descend, the Italian passenger suffered a cardiac arrest. He slumped, had no pulse, he was not breathing! Lead crew for that flight Ralph Perez immediately took over the situation by supervising his whole team. Flight attendants Kat Chetandas and Lisha Laconico immediately attended to the Italian passenger with the help of two other doctors on board, as the other crew members took care of the remaining passengers ensuring order inside the aircraft. Lisha Laconico operated the Automated External Defibrillator while Kat Chetandas applied CPR. After 14 cycles, the Italian man came back to life! A doctor on board immediately checked on the man and then injected epinephrine. The man was immediately attended to by a medical team after the aircraft landed in Manila.
We hope this story will change how you see flight attendants, especially for those who think they are "glorified flying servants". Many usually snob or disregard their presence as we board the aircraft even if they greet us with a smile. Some passengers shout at them for flight delays even if it is not their fault, and more, some has the guts to slap flight attendants!
This Italian man will be able to unite with his loved ones again and to enjoy another lease in life, all because of flight attendants. Thanks to the rigorous training these cabin crew members went through, they were able to bring someone back to life! This shows how important each and every cabin crew member are in every flight.
Flyhigh Manila had never failed to spread their importance and recognize our heroes of the sky. Through our lifestyle products and services specifically designed for flight attendants, we want these cabin crew members to feel extra special. Our WINGS privilege card does exactly that!
Our WINGS privilege cards rewards our cabin crew members for their hard work and dedication by providing them discounts and privileges at all our partner merchants from restaurants to bars to night clubs to vacation spots to derma clinics to beauty salons and more! WINGS is the only privilege card made exclusively for flight attendants and stewards.
So next time you board an aircraft and a flight attendant greets you, do not forget to greet back. A simple "good day" and "thank you" matters a lot to them because you never know also when they will matter most to you.
Our congratulations and job well done once again to Cebu Pacific cabin crew team of Ralph Perez, Jeng Zarate, Kat Chetandas, Lisha Laconico, Sam Beltran, and RK Galang. Our hats off to all of you!
