Again, another flight attendant was recently sent to the hospital due to lifting of bags unto the overhead bin. Just recently, Maverick Valasote revealed that his flight attendant mother mother sustained injuries due to bag lifting incidents. She will be out of commission for months.
We had always been diligent on our awareness campaign for passengers that cabin crew members are not obliged to lift hand-carry luggage unto the overhead bins unless when deemed necessary like if the passenger is physically challenged. They may ASSIST.
Not-so-good incidents related to the lifting of luggage unto the overhead bins by flight attendants are rising. Many were injured, and there was one who got slapped by some quack doctor!
We then decided to ask a few airlines if their cabin crew members are obliged to lift the luggage even if the passenger is all but normal! We asked 5-star carriers, a western carrier, a local legacy carrier, and a low cost carrier and here are their replies:
There you have it, those came from the airlines themselves!
A cabin crew's primary job is to ensure your safety and security on board. They are highly trained safety professionals. Comfort and service are secondary. We ourselves have witnessed numerous times what a cabin crew goes through in order to achieve their wings, and it doesn't just stop after graduation. Everyday, they face danger, ready to save your lives first before their very own when any unwanted incident happens.
That's the reason why we also designed a privilege card made exclusively for flight attendants and stewards where they may enjoy discounts, special privileges, and perks at all our partnered establishments! As we say, "you worked hard for your wings, you are working hard to keep your wings, and now it's time to make your WINGS work hard for you."
Own a WINGS privilege card and know how special you are as a flight attendant or steward.
